Call for Papers: Microplastics, PFAS, and Emerging Contaminants in Water Systems Deadline for manuscript submission: 31 January 2026 Articles will be published online as soon as possible after acceptance. IWA Publishing is pleased to invite submissions to a Special Issue on Microplastics, PFAS, and Emerging Contaminants in Water Systems. Microplastics, PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), and a broad range of other emerging contaminants – including pharmaceuticals, personal care products (PCPs), and heavy metals – are increasingly detected across natural and engineered water systems worldwide. These persistent and often toxic substances pose significant risks to ecosystems, water quality, and public health. They are found in surface water, groundwater, wastewater, drinking water, biosolids, and sludge. Understanding their sources, behaviour, impacts and treatment options is essential for safeguarding water resources and developing effective, sustainable solutions. This Special Issue seeks to highlight multidisciplinary research addressing the detection, occurrence, fate, risk, treatment, and management of emerging contaminants. We are particularly interested in studies that explore the sources, behaviour, and transformation of emerging contaminants, alongside innovative technologies, analytical methods, and policy approaches to assess and mitigate their impacts. Contributions focusing on ecological and human health risks, circular economy solutions, AI and machine learning applications, and regulatory frameworks are especially encouraged. We welcome submissions of the latest results, project findings, and perspectives from researchers, practitioners, and policy makers.

Climate impacts in a changing world 2026 – Abstract submission closes: 2nd November Abstract submission is now open for the international conference Climate Impacts in a Changing World 2026, to be held 9–11 March 2026 in Uppsala, Sweden. The conference will bring together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to explore how societies can understand and respond to climate impacts in a rapidly changing world. With a strong focus on climate extremes, the meeting is designed to spark dialogue across disciplines and sectors. Save the date and share your work with an international audience at one of Europe’s key forums for climate impact science. Submit your abstract here: https://lnkd.in/dhsbdNNd
